About this opportunity

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is soliciting bids for labor, equipment, materials, permits, licenses, tools, transportation, and incidentals to safely cut down and remove hazard trees in four areas at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park, with bids due November 2, 2026 and mandatory individual site visits required by October 26.

A site visit is a hard requirement—any bid submitted without evidence of a completed site visit will be rejected. Responders must stop at the Visitor Center upon arrival and sign in on the designated sheet. Site visits are strongly suggested between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Inquiries about site visits should be directed to Project Supervisor Alexa Smith at 507-384-6143.

The scope includes cutting down and removing hazard trees and all resulting debris—trunks, branches, and limbs—and hauling all material to a designated burn pile location. Unit pricing must include all costs: labor, materials, tools, transportation, equipment, sales tax, use tax, and all other costs necessary for project completion. Contractors must comply with all attachments and requirements; the DNR will determine whether the vendor meets specifications. Any bid that does not respond to the latest event version may be rejected.

All responses must be submitted electronically through the Swift Portal; no email or faxed responses will be accepted. Contractors needing assistance with Swift Portal registration or response completion may contact the Contractor Assistance Help Desk at 651-201-8100, Option 1. Direct Pay Permit 1114 does not apply to this project. All questions should be directed to the buyer listed in the event. Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is located in Sherburne County.
