About this opportunity

The South Dakota Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) is seeking a Dietician Consultant for the Adult Nutrition Program through Request for Proposal #24RFP11160. The consultant will provide comprehensive nutrition support services for older South Dakotans, including menu and dietary guidance, nutrition education, and informational materials. Key deliverables include reviewing and providing feedback on menus from contracted providers to ensure they meet dietary guidance standards, and offering malnutrition counseling to older adults when requested. The position is entirely remote, estimated at 42.25 hours per month, with potential variation based on referral volumes. Proposals are due on October 11, 2024, with an anticipated award decision and contract negotiation scheduled for December 2, 2024. Interested offerors must submit inquiries via email to Lesley.Farmen@state.sd.us with the subject line "RFP #24RFP11160", and all questions and responses will be posted on the state's e-procurement system. Evaluation criteria will likely focus on the consultant's dietetic credentials, experience with elder nutrition programs, and proposed hourly rates.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were mentioned in the procurement documents. The contract is structured as a three-year agreement with an option to renew for an additional two years. While a specific budget range was not explicitly stated, the RFP indicates that payment will be made for approved service hours on a monthly basis, with the total contract amount not exceeding an unspecified maximum. The procurement appears open to qualified dietician consultants who can demonstrate expertise in menu planning, nutrition education, and counseling for older adults. The contract will serve Harding County and potentially other regions within South Dakota, focusing on the Adult Nutrition Program's congregate and home-delivered meal settings. No incumbent vendor was identified in the procurement documents, and no specific technology integration requirements were noted beyond the remote nature of the consulting work.
