About this opportunity

The state of Vermont, specifically through Orleans County, is seeking a highway infrastructure improvement contract for two separate road segments: Derby STP PC24 (5) and Troy STP PC24 (4). This procurement involves comprehensive road rehabilitation work on U.S. Route 5, Alt. U.S. Route 5, VT Route 105, and VT Route 243, totaling approximately 2.372 miles of roadway. The project requires coarse-milling and resurfacing of existing highways, including installation of leveling and wearing courses, new signage, pavement markings, and other highway-related improvements. Qualified contractors must be categorized under Engineers Category E and capable of executing precise road reconstruction and resurfacing techniques. The contract was posted on December 10, 2025, with proposals due by January 16, 2026, indicating a approximately five-week procurement timeline. The project specifications demand contractors demonstrate technical expertise in highway infrastructure rehabilitation, precision milling, and comprehensive road restoration techniques.

While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the procurement notice, the project's technical complexity suggests a need for experienced highway infrastructure contractors with specialized equipment and expertise. The geographic focus on Orleans County implies potential preference for regional or Vermont-based contractors, though this is not definitively stated. No incumbent vendors are mentioned, and no specific budget range is provided within the contract opportunity description. The project's scope covers multiple road segments across two towns (Derby and Troy), indicating a substantial infrastructure investment aimed at improving transportation infrastructure in the northern Vermont region. Potential bidders should carefully review the detailed station measurements, mile markers, and specific roadway segments to ensure complete understanding of the project's technical requirements and geographical extent.
