About this opportunity

The Town of Wolcott is seeking qualified contractors to perform demolition and site stabilization of flood-damaged residential properties located at 64 and 514 School Street in Wolcott, Vermont. This procurement is part of the Flood Resilient Communities Fund, a state-funded program administered by Vermont's Department of Emergency Management. The project requires comprehensive demolition services, including removal of septic systems, water wells/springs, buildings, foundations, electrical and phone lines, pavement, fuel tanks, debris, and hazardous materials. Contractors must return the project sites to a smooth, graded, stabilized, and vegetated condition in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19th at 9:30 am at the Wolcott Town Offices, and bidders who do not attend will be disqualified. Sealed bids must be submitted by Wednesday, March 26th at 4:00 pm, with a public bid opening on Thursday, March 27th at 1:00 pm. The Town of Wolcott will evaluate bids based on technical expertise, experience, cost, project schedule, and proposal completeness, with demolition and site stabilization to be completed within 45 days of the Notice to Proceed.

The procurement encourages applications from minority and local businesses, with the Wolcott Selectboard reserving the right to select the most qualified proposal rather than automatically choosing the lowest bid. While no specific set-aside designations are explicitly stated, the language suggests a preference for local and diverse contractors. The project is located in Grand Isle County and is tied to flood recovery efforts, potentially making it attractive to regional businesses with relevant environmental remediation and demolition capabilities. No incumbent vendors or specific budget ranges are disclosed in the procurement documents. Email submissions are permitted at selectboardadmin@wolcottvt.org, and interested contractors can obtain bidding documents from the Town of Wolcott at 28 Railroad Street or through the municipal website Wolcottvt.org. Potential bidders can contact Linda Martin of the Wolcott Selectboard at linda.wolcott.selectboard@gmail.com or 802.888.5654 for additional information about the contract opportunity.
