About this opportunity
Constantine Public Schools Buildings & Grounds Department is soliciting competitive bids for the demolition of the Canaris Street School campus in Constantine, Michigan. The procurement encompasses the complete removal and site restoration of a two-story former high school building with attached service structures (approximately 36,000 square feet) and two modular units (1,970 square feet each). Deliverables for the former high school include utility disconnection, complete demolition, debris disposal with off-site concrete and brick recycling, foundation backfill to grade with sand, and site restoration comprising four inches of topsoil, seed, and mulch; one modular unit requires asbestos abatement prior to demolition while the other is asbestos-free, with both requiring utility disconnection, demolition, foundation backfill, and restoration. Qualified bidders must provide a certificate of insurance naming Constantine Public Schools as an additional insured for commercial general liability coverage with a preferred limit of $1,000,000 and must provide Worker's Compensation coverage with the district named as certificate holder; all policies must be endorsed to provide at least 30 days' notice of cancellation or material coverage reduction. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for December 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at 664 Canaris Street, Constantine, Michigan 49042, permitting interested bidders to inspect the buildings and assess conditions. Bids must be submitted separately for the former high school and the two modular units and are due January 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with public opening immediately following; submissions may be sent electronically to stwilson@constps.org or mailed to the Superintendent's office at 1 Falcon Drive, Constantine, Michigan 49042.
The solicitation documents do not specify set-aside designations, disadvantaged enterprise restrictions, or incumbent vendors. No budget range or award value is disclosed in the available procurement materials. Inquiries regarding the bid may be directed to Superintendent Steve Wilson at (269) 435-8900 or stwilson@constps.org. Potential bidders should note that bids must be separated by project component (the former high school versus the two modular units), allowing the school district flexibility in award decisions.
