About this opportunity
The Long Beach Public Utilities Department (LBPUD) is requesting quotations for crane inspections, preventive maintenance, and as-needed repair services for fixed and mobile cranes at multiple LBPUD facilities, with quotations due February 3, 2026 by 11:00 a.m. via the Long Beach Buys online portal. Bidders must be located within a 40-mile radius of the LBPUD Operations Service Center and hold valid CAL/OSHA Crane Certification licenses — both are capability filters. A 10% local-vendor preference for Long Beach–based businesses applies, capped at fifty thousand dollars.
The scope covers quarterly inspections (January, April, July, October) and annual inspections with load testing for fixed overhead cranes in three weight categories (under 3 tons, 3–10 tons, over 10 tons) and mobile cranes in two categories (under 30 tons, 30 tons or more). Cranes over three tons also require quadrennial load inspections. Service locations include the Operations Service Center, Groundwater Treatment Plant, and Gas Facility. Pricing shall include unit costs for each inspection type, labor rates for service repairs and emergency service, and percentage discounts for parts. The contractor must provide all materials, tools, parts, equipment, and labor; materials must be new and unused. The contractor must obtain or hold a valid State of California Contractor's License and City of Long Beach Business License prior to contract execution.
The contract term is one year with an option to extend for one additional year by mutual agreement. Pricing is firm for the contract term. Insurance requirements include Comprehensive General Liability ($1 million per occurrence or $2 million aggregate), Automobile Liability ($500,000), and Workers' Compensation with Employers Liability limits of $1 million; the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners must be named as additional insured. Payment is due within thirty days of invoice receipt upon LBPUD acceptance. Questions are due January 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with answers posted by January 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
