About this opportunity

The Water and Sanitation Commission (WSSC) is procuring crane and hoists inspection, repair, and maintenance services for facilities located in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, Maryland. This procurement seeks a qualified contractor to perform annual inspections and preventive maintenance on approximately 206 overhead cranes and hoists distributed across various WSSC facilities. The contractor's primary deliverables include conducting thorough annual inspections of hoisting machinery, providing lubrication to all components requiring such service, performing emergency repair services on a time and material basis to maintain equipment in proper operating condition, and potentially executing oil changes and full-rated operational load tests on cranes and monorails in designated Chlorine Buildings. The contractor must provide all necessary supervision, labor, service trucks, materials (including oil and grease), tools, equipment, and related appurtenances required for contract performance. The proposal submission deadline is May 21, 2026, with the opportunity posted on May 11, 2026, allowing potential bidders a ten-day window to submit responses.

The solicitation document does not specify set-aside designations, restrictions on organization types, incumbent vendors, or budget ranges that would limit competition or indicate award values. No specific evaluation criteria beyond technical capability and compliance with contract terms are explicitly detailed in the provided opportunity information. Interested contractors should possess demonstrated expertise in crane and hoist inspection, maintenance, and repair services, as well as the operational capacity to service equipment across multiple facilities within the specified geographic area. The contract structure on a time and material basis for emergency repairs suggests flexibility in pricing, though fixed pricing for annual inspection and preventive maintenance services would likely be required. Prospective bidders should contact WSSC directly for complete solicitation documents, detailed specifications, and any additional evaluation criteria not included in this summary.
