About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, is soliciting sealed bids for the Corn Crib 26/27 Timber Sale, with bids opening November 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM EST. The sale is a fourth-row thinning with logger select on approximately 376 acres of 21- to 31-year-old planted slash pine at John M. Bethea State Forest in Baker County, Florida, an SFI Certified forest. The source states no set-aside, preference, or eligibility restriction.

Harvesting removes every fourth row and selected trees in the remaining rows to reach a target basal area of 60 square feet per acre. Selected trees are harvested in priority order: diseased, damaged, defective, forked, and suppressed trees first, then a portion of intermediate and co-dominant trees. Leave trees should be spaced evenly across the sale area. The Forester-in-Charge may adjust the target basal area or trees-per-acre count for stand and site conditions. Property boundary trees, marked with white bands or property signs, must not be harvested or damaged. Estimated removals are 14,260 tons of pine pulpwood and 3,825 tons of pine chip-n-saw. The sale contract runs twelve months.

The sale is divided into Area 1 (289 acres) and Area 2 (87 acres), with maps attached as Area1Map_CornCrib.pdf, Area2Map_CornCrib.pdf, and VicinityMap_CornCrib.pdf. The vicinity map covers Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Nassau, and Union Counties.

Bid information is available from Garrett Henderson at (904) 259-2157, and the Suwannee Forestry Center can be reached at (386) 243-6240. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
