About this opportunity
The County of Santa Clara is seeking construction project management firms to provide professional services for the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Emergency Department Expansion and Remodel Project. This procurement aims to significantly enhance the hospital's emergency department capabilities by expanding the first floor and basement support space by 28,560 square feet and remodeling an additional 21,122 square feet. The project objectives include nearly doubling the number of existing beds, increasing treatment/exam rooms from 13 to 44, expanding the waiting room, and adding 6 new rapid medical evaluation stations to bring the total to 8. The project will be constructed in multiple phases to maintain continuous emergency department operations and is classified as an OSHPD 1 hospital building under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Health Care Access and Information. Proposals for construction project management services are due by September 11, 2025, with the initial posting made on August 19, 2025. Qualified consultants must demonstrate expertise in complex healthcare facility construction management, ability to coordinate phased construction, and understanding of healthcare regulatory compliance.
While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the opportunity description, the project's complexity suggests a preference for experienced healthcare construction management firms with proven track records in large-scale medical facility renovations. The procurement appears to be open to a wide range of qualified professional services firms with demonstrated capabilities in hospital construction project management. The project's scale and technical requirements imply a substantial budget, though exact funding parameters are not specified in the provided information. Potential respondents should be prepared to demonstrate extensive experience with OSHPD 1 hospital building regulations, phased construction strategies, and the ability to manage expansive medical facility renovation projects while maintaining continuous healthcare operations. The multi-phase nature of the project and its significant scope of nearly doubling emergency department capacity suggest a complex and potentially high-value contract opportunity for qualified construction management professionals.
