About this opportunity
Richmond Community College is seeking sealed proposals for the construction of the Hendrick Center for Automotive Training, a new 9,885 square foot facility located on the main campus in Hamlet, North Carolina. The project will involve building a specialized automotive technician training facility that includes classrooms, labs, offices, and circulation spaces. Sealed bids are due on April 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with bid opening immediately following in the Grimsley Health Science Building Room #102. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for March 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the same location. The project includes four alternates: a Schlage Everest keying system, an Alerton BACnet DDC system, SOPREMA modified bitumen roofing, and a masonry/metal screen wall option. Complete plans and specifications can be obtained from ADW Architects after March 4, 2025, with a $250 deposit, and are available through multiple platforms including ConstructConnect, Duncan-Parnell, and the Blue Book Building and Construction Network.
The procurement requires a Building Contractor classification license and mandates minority business participation documentation through Affidavit A or B. Bidders must submit a 5% bid deposit via cash, certified check, or bid bond, and the successful contractor will be required to provide a 100% performance and payment bond. Payment terms include monthly estimates at 95% with final payment upon project completion. Bid submissions cannot be withdrawn for 60 days after the closing date. While no specific set-aside designations are explicitly mentioned, the requirement for minority business participation suggests a commitment to diverse contractor involvement. The state reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, indicating flexibility in the procurement process. Though a specific budget range is not provided, the complexity of the project and the detailed specifications suggest a significant investment in creating a state-of-the-art automotive training facility for Richmond Community College.
