About this opportunity
Lafayette County, Missouri is soliciting sealed bids for constructing courthouse square sidewalk improvements under project TAP-9901(460), with bids due July 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lafayette County Clerk's Office in Lexington. All bidders must be registered on MoDOT's Qualified Contractor List per Section 102.2 of the Missouri Standard Specifications for Highway Construction 2026, with contractor questionnaires required on file seven days prior to bid opening — this is a mandatory eligibility gate.
The scope includes replacement of existing sidewalk sections, retaining walls, street curbs, and stairs around the courthouse and jail property with new ADA-compliant sidewalks featuring truncated domes at street crossings; new 2-foot-8-inch and 4-foot-8-inch tall retaining walls; new street curbs; and new stairs with railings. Bid documents (available from the consulting engineer Howe Company, LLC at 804 E. Patton Street, Macon, Missouri or www.howecompany.com) cost $50.00 for a PDF or $75.00 for hard copies including shipping, with shipping waived for bidders providing a valid UPS account number.
A certified or cashier's check or bid bond equal to 5 percent of the bid must accompany each proposal. Federal wage rates apply. Contractors and subcontractors must provide 10-hour OSHA construction safety training to on-site employees within 60 days of work commencement. The DBE goal for this project is 0 percent, and no second-tier subcontracting is permitted. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. No bids may be withdrawn within 90 days of the opening date.
