About this opportunity
Gratiot County is seeking qualified contractors to provide and install a complete 90kW natural gas optional-standby generator with an automatic service-entrance rated transfer switch for the Commission on Aging facility located at 515 S. Pine River Street in Ithaca, Michigan. The procurement is a Request for Proposals (RFP) focused on replacing existing electrical services with a new generator system, which includes comprehensive site assessment, electrical demolition, equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and training. Proposals are due by 4:00 PM on August 28, 2025, and must include one copy of the proposal labeled "Commission on Aging Generator Project". Contractors must submit a "not to exceed" price for the entire project, with detailed descriptions of work, materials, and warranty coverage. The county will evaluate proposals based on multiple criteria including timeliness, cost, quality of materials, and documented experience with generator system projects. Required qualifications include providing a list of similar generator installation projects and professional references. Bidders must demonstrate expertise in generator system installations and provide comprehensive documentation of their proposed approach.
There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on organization types mentioned in the procurement documents. The project requires contractors to maintain comprehensive insurance coverage, including worker's compensation, commercial general liability, and automobile liability, with Gratiot County named as an additional insured. The contract will include a five-year manufacturer warranty on the generator and automatic transfer switches. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the procurement involves replacing electrical services for a 90kW generator system, which suggests a potentially significant capital investment. The generator is designed to provide backup power during outages for one 200Amp-208/120V electrical service on the north end and two 225Amp-208/120V electrical services at the south end of the Commission on Aging facility. Preliminary generator sizing is based on maximum demand data recorded over the previous 12 months by Consumers Energy, indicating a thorough approach to determining the appropriate generator capacity for the facility's needs.
