About this opportunity
The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority is soliciting proposals for the design, manufacture, delivery, and installation of two complete commercial bi-parting garage door systems at its Maintenance Facility at 600 Longworth Street, Dayton, Ohio, with proposals due September 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time via OpenGov. This is a qualifications-based selection process conducted in two phases: Phase One evaluates technical merit based on technical approach and system design, relevant experience with commercial or industrial high-cycle garage door systems, project schedule, and warranty support; pricing is submitted only after Phase Two finalist selection.
The garage door systems must support a minimum of 300 operating cycles per day with a design capacity of 110,000 annual cycles, open and close within 15 seconds or less, include photoelectric sensors and automatic obstruction detection, and integrate with the facility's existing 480-Volt, Three-Phase electrical service and emergency backup generator. Opening dimensions are 29 feet 3.25 inches wide by 17 feet 5.5 inches high; doors measure 15 and 17 feet 6 inches in width sections and must be painted Safety Yellow (interior-facing) and Medium Brown (exterior-facing) with windows installed in the panels. Existing rail channel design is to be retained.
The fixed-price contract term is 12 months, with RTA retaining the right to extend by written notice within 30 days if preliminary notice is given at least 60 days before expiration, not exceeding 12 months total. The project is funded in part by the Federal Transit Administration and Ohio Department of Transportation, making it subject to Buy America provisions, prevailing wage requirements, and federal clauses regarding civil rights and DBE participation. The DBE requirement is zero percent. The contractor must provide a 365-day performance warranty covering labor and materials, with defective items replaced or repaired at no cost including all material, labor, and transportation.
A non-mandatory pre-proposal conference is scheduled September 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the facility with virtual Microsoft Teams attendance available. Questions are due September 17, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. The contractor must submit certifications including SAM.gov exclusion check, W-9, Certificate of Good Standing from Ohio Secretary of State, Buy America Certification, and evidence of liability insurance. Performance bonds of 100 percent of contract price are required within five days of award.
