About this opportunity

Columbus Water Works (City of Columbus and Muscogee County, Georgia) is requesting bids for reconditioning three welded steel elevated water storage tanks totaling 1.5 million gallons, with proposals due February 24, 2022. The base bid includes complete removal and replacement of interior and exterior protective coating systems and repair of tank accessories on the 500,000-gallon Cody Road Back Tank, Schatulga Road Tank, and County Line Road Tank. Alternate bid items cover exterior and interior coatings for the 50,000-gallon Uchee Creek Standpipe and exterior coatings for the North Columbus Water Resource Facility concrete clearwell.

The base bid tanks are funded through GEFA (Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority), making all pertinent federal requirements applicable. The Uchee Creek Standpipe is located on Fort Benning; contractors selected for this alternate bid work must comply with the Columbus Water Works/Fort Benning Contractor-Subcontractor Agreement outlined in Appendix B. This site-specific requirement restricts flexibility for standpipe work and may trigger additional clearance or access protocols beyond standard municipal contracting.

The project involves detailed coating-system specifications for both steel and concrete surfaces across multiple tank types and locations. Bidders must demonstrate capacity to execute work at geographically dispersed sites and, if pursuing the Fort Benning alternate, possess ability to meet federal on-post contractor requirements.
