About this opportunity
Slippery Rock University of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is seeking competitive bids for a Mechanical Construction Coal Delivery System Replacement project located on the university's upper campus. The procurement is structured as an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for separate prime contractors, with the mechanical construction contractor serving as the lead contractor. The primary scope involves comprehensive demolition of existing coal delivery equipment within the central heating plant and subsequent installation of new coal delivery systems. Contractors must provide all necessary labor, materials, tools, equipment, and testing to complete the construction to the satisfaction of the university and the State System of Higher Education. Electronic bids are strictly required and must be submitted through PASSHE's ARIBA Sourcepoint by 2:00 PM EST on May 21, 2024. Interested bidders must first register on the ARIBA platform, which is a free process that allows document retrieval, solicitation updates, and confidential bid submission. Potential bidders are advised to contact Tod Horner to schedule a mandatory site visit prior to bid submission.
While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the solicitation, the procurement appears to be open to qualified mechanical construction contractors capable of executing complex infrastructure replacement work. The project is located in Butler County and involves specialized coal delivery system infrastructure, suggesting potential technical complexity and need for demonstrated expertise. No incumbent vendor information or specific budget range is provided in the documentation. Bidders will need to register on the ARIBA platform to access full bid package details and ensure compliance with all submission requirements. The project represents a significant infrastructure upgrade for Slippery Rock University's central heating plant, requiring precise technical capabilities and adherence to Pennsylvania state procurement statutes. Contractors should carefully review all contract drawings and requirements to ensure comprehensive understanding of the project's scope and technical specifications.
