About this opportunity
Slippery Rock University of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is seeking separate prime contractors for a Coal Delivery System Replacement project located in Slippery Rock, PA. The primary procurement involves demolishing existing coal delivery equipment within the central heating plant and installing new coal delivery infrastructure, with the mechanical construction contractor serving as the lead prime contractor. Contractors must provide all necessary labor, materials, testing, and equipment to complete the construction to the satisfaction of the university and professional oversight. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference and site visit is scheduled for February 14, 2024, at 9:30 AM at the Heating Plant, located at 100 Service Drive in Slippery Rock. Electronic bids must be submitted through PASSHE's ARIBA Sourcepoint by 2:00 PM EST on March 28, 2024, with bidders required to register on the platform to access solicitation documents and submit proposals. The bid package is publicly viewable, but registration is mandatory for bid submission.
The procurement appears to have no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on enterprise types based on the provided documentation. Bidders must register on the ARIBA Sourcepoint platform, which is a free process designed to ensure bid privacy, security, and supplier confidentiality while streamlining the procurement process. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving complete demolition and replacement of coal delivery equipment—suggests a significant capital investment. The project encompasses Butler County and specifically targets the Slickville CDP area, with work to be performed on the upper campus of Slippery Rock University. Interested contractors will need to demonstrate technical capability in mechanical construction, coal delivery system installation, and commissioning of new equipment, with the ability to meet the university's stringent performance and approval standards.
