About this opportunity
The Colorado Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for the Holzwarth Culvert replacement project in Gilpin County, with proposals due October 20, 2026. The project is located within Rocky Mountain National Park at the Holzwarth Historic Site, where environmental compliance and resource protection are critical execution constraints.
The scope includes removal of an existing six-barrel culvert and construction of a new steel girder bridge with cast-in-place concrete deck, new bridge abutments and micropiles, temporary stream diversion and riprap installation, new aggregate roadway surfacing, relocation of an existing electrical line, and relocation of historic head gates onto a new concrete slab. Site access presents significant logistical constraints: the Holzwarth Culvert Access Road is approximately 13 feet wide with tight turning radius requirements. Temporary road widening will be necessary to prevent truck off-tracking onto sensitive environmental resources, and a temporary truck turnaround must be constructed, as construction access is restricted to within 100 feet west of the bridge. The site is accessible on foot a quarter mile past the locked south entrance gate at the Holzwarth Historic Site Parking Lot.
This is a highway, street, and bridge construction project under NIGP code 237310. No estimated contract value, contract term, incumbent contractor, evaluation criteria, pre-bid meeting date, question deadline, or set-aside or preference program is identified in the source materials.
