About this opportunity
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) CMU 2855 for Athletic Apparel and Equipment, seeking an experienced contractor to provide a comprehensive range of sports-related products and services for its athletic department. The procurement covers game-day uniforms, practice apparel, sideline gear, athletic shoes, sports equipment, accessories, and potential sponsorship opportunities across 28 intercollegiate varsity sports. The university aims to establish a 5-year contract with a vendor capable of meeting its specific visual identity requirements, including consistent logo usage, color application, typography, and graphic imagery. Proposals are due on November 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM MST, with an anticipated contract award during the week of December 8, 2025, and contract issuance projected for December 15, 2025. The evaluation criteria will be weighted as follows: pricing and discounts (30%), experience and qualifications (25%), product scope and quality (25%), customer service (15%), and references (5%). Vendors must provide a simple ordering process, maintain sufficient inventory, offer local sales representation, and support customization including logo placement and branding.
The RFP does not explicitly mention any set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The total university spend for the fiscal year 2025 was $602,512.69, which provides an indication of potential contract value. Pricing will be based on a discount off the current published manufacturer's list price, with the contractor's pricing structure required to remain firm throughout the contract term. CMU is a tax-exempt institution and emphasizes that it does not guarantee any specific dollar value or quantity of products under the resulting agreement. The procurement is specifically limited to apparel orders from the Athletics and Club/Intramural Sports departments. Vendors must meet comprehensive insurance requirements, including Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, and Automobile Liability Insurance, with CMU to be named as an additional insured. The university reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to negotiate terms that are most advantageous to the institution.
