About this opportunity
The City of Alhambra, California is requesting sealed bids on the City Yard Improvements Project (Project No. N2M26-116), with bids due October 29, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. and public opening at 11:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers. All contractors must possess a valid California Class A license prior to beginning work and maintain current City business licenses. Prevailing wage rates and apprenticeship employment standards established by the State Director of Industrial Relations and Federal government are required.
The scope includes constructing a retaining wall, removing existing asphalt pavement, constructing a new asphalt base and surface for a portion of the City Yard, installing fencing with two automatic sliding gates, and applying new pavement striping. Total construction duration is sixty calendar days from the City's Notice to Proceed. The work is located at the City Yard, Alhambra, California.
Bidders must submit sealed bids on approved Proposal forms accompanied by a bid bond payable to the City of Alhambra in an amount not less than ten percent of the bid amount. The City will deduct five percent retention from all progress payments. For bid evaluation purposes, the City will reduce bid totals by one percent of the portion subject to sales or use tax, though actual payment will not reflect this reduction. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to take bids under advisement for sixty calendar days.
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held October 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at 900 S. New Avenue, Alhambra. Pre-bid inquiries must be submitted in writing by 4:00 p.m. on October 20, 2026. Contract documents and specifications are available electronically from Kip Su, Engineering Associate – Utilities, at ksu@alhambraca.gov or (626) 570-3228. Project inquiries should be directed to Thomas Amare, Engineering Project Specialist, at tamare@alhambraca.org or (626) 300-1562. The contract incorporates State Labor Code provisions and non-discrimination requirements for minority business enterprises and all protected classes.
