About this opportunity

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is soliciting sealed responses for Chlorine 99.5% through a competitive procurement process targeting water and wastewater treatment chemical supply. This procurement opportunity is specifically focused on Prince George's and Montgomery Counties in Maryland, with the primary objective of ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted supply of chemicals for water treatment facilities. The solicitation requires contractors to furnish and deliver high-purity chlorine that meets specific quality standards, with a critical emphasis on maintaining EPA guideline compliance and supporting water treatment operations. Responses must be submitted electronically via the WSSC eProcurement Portal (https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/wsscwater) no later than 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, with late submissions being automatically disqualified. Potential bidders are required to register in the WSSC Water supplier portal (https://www.wsscwater.com/supplier) to access solicitation documents and participate in the procurement process. All questions and submittals must be processed through the OPENGOV online discussion platform, with additional inquiries directed to joseph.cokes@WSSCwater.com.

While the procurement notice does not explicitly outline specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements, interested vendors must complete the registration process in the supplier portal to be considered. The solicitation appears to be open to qualified chemical suppliers capable of meeting the stringent 99.5% chlorine purity specifications and demonstrating the ability to support continuous water treatment operations. No specific budget range or award value is directly mentioned in the procurement notice, though the scope suggests a significant ongoing supply contract for critical water treatment chemicals. The procurement is structured to ensure that the selected vendor can reliably support the water and wastewater treatment infrastructure across Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, with a clear focus on meeting environmental and regulatory standards. Prospective bidders should be prepared to demonstrate their technical capabilities, supply chain reliability, and compliance with EPA guidelines when responding to this solicitation.
