About this opportunity

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is issuing Invitation for Bid (IFB) #3000012620 for the procurement of prepurchased process pumps as part of the Chilled Water Infrastructure Expansion North Chiller Plant project. The solicitation seeks three (3) double suction, vertical split case centrifugal pumps with specifications including 6,000 GPM capacity, 125 feet of head, and 250 horsepower motors rated at 480 volts, three phase, 1,800 RPM with variable frequency drive capability. Each pump must include a motor manufactured by GE/ABB, US Motor, or Toshiba and must comply with NEMA, IEEE, ANSI, and NEC standards with third-party listing from laboratories accredited by the North Carolina Building Code Council. The bid price shall constitute the total fully assembled and ready-for-use cost including all shipping, delivery, handling, and administrative fees, submitted on a standard company quote document. The manufacturer must provide a 24-month parts and labor warranty from initial equipment startup or 30 months after shipment, whichever is longer, with factory-trained service technicians performing all warranty work. Written questions must be submitted by January 30, 2026 at 1:00 PM EST, with bids due on March 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM EST. Contract award will be made to the responsive bid offering the lowest price meeting specifications, with equipment delivery scheduled for August 2026 and installation/commissioning to occur between mid-September 2026 and mid-April 2027.

Vendors must be registered with North Carolina's Electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) and meet various compliance certifications including E-Verify requirements, non-debarment status, and financial stability. Vendors must also submit HUB supplemental vendor information and financial condition certifications and provide references from at least three (3) previous installations of the exact pump model. The manufacturer is responsible for shop drawings, equipment manufacturing and delivery coordination, equipment checkout and testing, startup supervision, and training of Owner personnel (minimum 16 hours). The University reserves the right to make separate awards to different vendors for individual line items or reject all bids. No pre-bid conference or site visit is scheduled for this procurement. No specific budget range or award value has been publicly disclosed for this equipment procurement.
