About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting bids on chain (5/16") for the Richmond Crew in FY2014, with bids due November 20, 2013. In the event of tied bids, preference is given to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.
The scope is 8 drums of 5/16" steel proof coil welded chain, Grade 30, with 550 feet per drum for a total of 4,400 feet. The chain must be self-colored steel, approximately 95 pounds per 100 feet, with a workload limit of 1,900 pounds and maximum skid load of 2 drums per skid. Sample submission prior to award may be required. Chain that is excessively oily will be rejected upon delivery. Bidders must contact the procurement office at least 24 hours before delivery (desk 582-5771 or cell 446-8009).
Quotes must be submitted electronically by 2:00 p.m. local time on the due date, with supporting documentation permitted via fax or mail prior to bid opening. Unit prices must be submitted separately for each item in the quantities specified, delivered to destination with all applicable discounts included. Transportation charges are prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. Bidders may submit alternate commodities with complete identification and descriptive literature; failure to do so will be interpreted as a proposal to furnish the commodity as specified. The State is exempt from federal and Maine sales and use taxes; quotes should exclude these amounts.
Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering the best value to the State, with consideration given to quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and overall economy. Discounts under 20 days will not be considered in award determination. The Division reserves the right to reject any or all quotes and waive formalities. The contractor may not assign, sublet, or transfer the purchase order without written consent of the Director.
