About this opportunity
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) 4464 seeking nominations for "Build-Ready" sites across New York State, with the primary objective of identifying potential locations for large-scale renewable energy development. This RFI invites elected officials, community members, private companies, and other interested parties to nominate sites for comprehensive viability assessment and potential renewable energy project development. Eligible sites must meet specific criteria, including a minimum size of 65 acres and fall within designated land use categories such as dormant electric generating sites, former industrial sites, brownfields, landfills, and other underutilized properties. The sites must also feature flat or gently sloped terrain. NYSERDA will conduct a thorough site assessment to evaluate the nominated locations' potential for renewable energy infrastructure. The submission deadline for site nominations is December 30, 2027, at 3:00 PM, with potential modifications to the solicitation to be posted on NYSERDA's website at www.nyserda.ny.gov/funding-opportunities.
Regarding set-aside designations and organizational restrictions, this RFI does not include specific set-aside requirements for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Minority-Owned, Women-Owned, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, as all subcontracting goals are currently set at 0%. The contract term remains to be determined (TBD), and the potential project locations are open to all New York State counties. No incumbent vendors or current contractors were identified in the solicitation, and no specific award value or budget range was provided. The RFI represents an exploratory phase in site identification and assessment, with the ultimate goal of facilitating large-scale renewable energy development across diverse land use types. Interested parties should carefully review the full RFI documentation and ensure their nominated sites meet the specified criteria before submission.
