About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services intends to execute a single-source procurement with Brown International Corporation, LLC for leasing commercial juice extractors. Specifically, the agency plans to lease up to forty (40) AMC Model 2700 juice extractors to be used in processing plants statewide for extracting, evaluating, and determining the percent of total soluble solids per pound on delivered citrus loads. This procurement is statutorily mandated and covers a contract period from the date of execution through June 30, 2026. The procurement is limited to Brown International Corporation, LLC, as they hold patents #3185071 and #3286726 for the AMC Model 2700 juice extractor, with no known equivalent machine available. The procurement process requires prospective vendors to provide relevant information to the contact person by May 7, 2025, after which the Department will review submissions to confirm single-source status. The procurement supports maintaining control over statewide testing procedures to ensure uniformity and consistency in the citrus industry, as specified in Chapter 20-34.001 (2), F.A.C.
This single-source procurement does not appear to have specific set-aside designations or restrictions on organizational types. The contract is specifically targeted to Brown International Corporation, LLC as the sole vendor capable of providing the specialized juice extractors. The leasing costs will be reimbursed by individual processing plants, with an estimated contract amount of $167,783.20 and a total possible amount of up to $200,000.00. No incumbent vendors are mentioned beyond Brown International Corporation, LLC. The procurement does not indicate requirements for integration with existing infrastructure or technology beyond the specified juice extractors. The contract appears focused on a very specific technical solution for citrus load testing, with Brown International Corporation, LLC being the exclusive provider due to their unique patent holdings for the AMC Model 2700 juice extractor.
