About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories, is seeking a single-source procurement for BioFire reagents and service agreements from bioMerieux for pathogen identification using nucleic acid sequencing. The procurement specifically targets BioFire FilmArray Torch System and BioFire FilmArray 2.0 System, which are automated multiplex PCR systems capable of detecting multiple targets in a sample within approximately one hour. These systems will support outbreak detection activities for viral diseases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The contract is structured for a 3-year term, with a posted date of March 18, 2025, and a final information receipt deadline of April 8, 2025. Prospective vendors are invited to provide information about their ability to supply the described commodities or services, with the agency reserving the right to determine if the services are available from a single source. The procurement follows Chapter 60A-1.045 of the Florida Administrative Code and requires vendors to demonstrate compatibility with existing CDC testing protocols and infrastructure.

The procurement appears to be a non-restricted opportunity without explicit set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. bioMerieux is identified as the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the required reagents and equipment, which suggests limited competitive bidding. The estimated dollar amount for this single-source procurement is $345,000.00, covering the reagents, service agreements, and associated equipment. The Bureau of Public Health Laboratories currently utilizes BioFire equipment for nationwide testing, which necessitates continuity of services with existing equipment. The procurement is specific to Leon County, Florida, and is approved by Allegra Small, the Purchasing Director. The contract aims to maintain the current testing infrastructure and capabilities of the public health laboratory system, with a focus on supporting critical viral disease outbreak detection and monitoring efforts. Potential vendors should be prepared to demonstrate technical compatibility, provide comprehensive service agreements, and meet the specific requirements of CDC testing protocols.
