About this opportunity

The University of Texas Health Science Authority (UTHSA) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) 745-26-P05 for trauma implants used in internal fixation procedures, seeking qualified vendors to supply high-quality medical devices for orthopedic and trauma care programs in Bexar County, Texas. The procurement encompasses a comprehensive range of FDA-approved trauma implants including plates, screws, nails, and fixation systems designed for surgical treatment of fractures and traumatic injuries. Proposers must demonstrate expertise in manufacturing, supplying, and supporting trauma implants, with products required to meet ISO quality management standards and regulatory approvals. The solicitation requires vendors to provide competitive pricing, reliable delivery schedules, and comprehensive product support and training for clinical staff. Key submission details include a proposal due date of October 6, 2025, with the RFP originally posted on September 8, 2025. Evaluation criteria will likely encompass product quality, regulatory compliance, pricing, delivery capabilities, and technical support infrastructure.

The procurement appears to include provisions for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB), as evidenced by the attached HUB HSP document, which suggests potential set-aside or preference considerations for disadvantaged business enterprises. UTHSA explicitly states there is no guarantee of specific compensation or service volume, indicating this is an indefinite quantity contract with potential for multiple award recipients. While no specific budget range is mentioned, the complexity of trauma implants suggests a potentially significant contract value. The solicitation includes multiple supporting documents such as terms and conditions, pricing schedules, quality metrics, and general information files that prospective vendors must carefully review. Proposers will need to complete various documentation including an execution of offer form and an addenda checklist. The contract appears structured to allow flexible procurement of trauma implants with an emphasis on quality, reliability, and comprehensive vendor support for medical procedures.
