About this opportunity
The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service is seeking professional services for the Bikeway - Broad Street Urban Trail project, a multi-modal infrastructure initiative connecting Downtown to the Alum Creek Trail. The project involves installing a separated bike lane configuration along East Broad Street from Washington Avenue to the Alum Creek Trail, with significant engineering requirements including preliminary engineering (PE) to determine alignment, landscaping improvements, drainage solutions, stormwater control practices, structural bridge crossing options, and traffic signal modifications. Proposals will be received electronically via Bonfire at https://columbus.bonfirehub.com/login until September 17, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. local time. All questions must be submitted via email to capitalprojects@columbus.gov, with responses posted as addenda on the Bonfire platform. A scope meeting is anticipated approximately two weeks after proposal submission, where the selected consultant or an alternate representative is expected to attend. The project requires comprehensive technical expertise in urban transportation infrastructure design, traffic engineering, and multi-modal transportation planning.
While no specific set-aside designations or minority/disadvantaged enterprise requirements are explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the procurement appears to be a standard professional services solicitation open to qualified engineering and transportation design firms. The project is partially funded through MORPC (Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission) attributable funding, as indicated by the attached funding application document. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are mentioned in the available materials. The precise budget range is not specified, but the complexity of the project—involving bike lane design, traffic signal replacement, landscape improvements, and comprehensive engineering analysis—suggests a substantial professional services contract. Interested consultants will need to demonstrate significant technical capabilities in urban transportation infrastructure design, with expertise in bike lane configuration, traffic engineering, and comprehensive infrastructure planning to be competitive in this procurement opportunity.
