About this opportunity
Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources is soliciting quotes for application of Bayer Chipco Choice insecticide, or an approved Fipronil alternate, by a licensed applicator, with questions and alternate-product requests due November 13, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Bidders must hold an active Commercial Applicator License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at bid submittal and maintain it throughout performance.
Work covers approximately 150 acres of athletic fields at 14 Sarasota County park locations, including Newtown Estates, Youth Athletic Complex, Babe Ruth Complex, Fruitville Park, 17th Street Park and Regional Park, Twin Lakes Park, Tatum Ridge Complex, Bee Ridge Park, Glebe Park, Wellfield Park, Chuck Reiter, Foxworthy, and Englewood Sports Complex. The product is slit-applied into the turf soil base at 25 pounds per acre between March 15 and March 19, 2027. The contractor must follow Sarasota County's Integrated Pest Management Procedural Guidelines and keep an English-speaking employee on site. Materials and labor must carry the manufacturer's standard warranty or one year, whichever is greater. The county's IPM guidelines prohibit fipronil for turf use, and the solicitation specifies a Fipronil product, so bidders should resolve that conflict with the county in writing before the November 13 deadline.
Bidders must submit a prescribed reference form documenting similar experience at submittal, and failure to provide references may result in a non-responsiveness determination. Proof of insurance meeting county requirements, including pollution liability coverage, is required, along with E-Verify compliance. Quotes must be submitted electronically through OpenGov Procurement.
Purchases are capped at $50,000, and bidders may not submit quotes above that amount. The contract runs up to one year after award, during which the county may buy additional quantities at the quoted unit price within the cap. Award goes to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest total bid price. Work begins upon receipt of a County Purchase Order. The county may use contingency funds of up to 10 percent of the total bid price for unforeseen circumstances, subject to written county approval. Payment follows completion of work under the General Terms and Conditions of Purchase Orders.
Quotes are due November 18, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. Procurement contact is Holly Monville, Procurement and Contracts Coordinator, at hmonville@scgov.net or (941) 415-3532.
