About this opportunity
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) is seeking quotes for herbicide treatment of Berberis thunbergii (Asiatic Barberry) at Letchworth State Park in Warren County, with quotes due September 10, 2026. Applicators must hold New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) certification as a Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator (CCPA), or work as a Certified Commercial Pesticide Technician (CCPT) under direct on-site CCPA supervision — this is a mandatory qualification filter.
The scope covers herbicide treatment of seven acres of barberry infestation in Bishop Woods, located in the southern end of Letchworth State Park between Trailside Road and Archery Field. The infestation spans a 10-acre plot with 40–70% cover class and ranges from patchy to near-monoculture conditions. Subcontracting is prohibited; all work must be performed directly by the awarded firm. No business enterprise has been awarded an identical or substantially similar contract within the past five years.
Place of performance is Letchworth State Park. The solicitation is structured as a quote request rather than a formal RFP or IFB, suggesting a streamlined or sole-source procurement path. Additional specifications regarding treatment protocols, herbicide quantities, application timelines, performance standards, and payment terms are contained in the attached Scope of Work document (Barberry Management_NYSCR_ES-GEN-2026-001.pdf).
