About this opportunity
Millington Community Schools in Michigan is soliciting sealed bids for two all-trades generator installations, at Meachum Elementary School and Millington Jr./Sr. High School, with proposals due November 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time at the Kirk Administration Building, 8664 Dean Drive, Millington, Michigan. The mandatory pre-bid walkthrough scheduled for October 30, 2026 has passed. Both projects are subject to Michigan prevailing wage requirements under Act 10 of 2023, and bidders bear sole responsibility for wage compliance.
The Meachum Elementary project, at 8537 Gleason Street, requires a 100 kW/125 kVA natural gas generator with concrete pad foundation, approximately 350 feet of underground gas and electrical conduit, sound-attenuated enclosure, automatic transfer switches, and controls. The Millington Jr./Sr. High School project requires a 200 kW/225 kVA natural gas generator with weather-proof enclosure, automatic transfer switch, generator control panel, battery charger, and coolant and oil heaters on a reinforced concrete foundation. For the high school, the owner supplies the generator and transfer switch, and the contractor installs them. Meachum requires a one-year warranty from final acceptance.
Bidders must submit a bid guarantee equal to 5% of the base proposal in the form of a money order, certified check, or bid bond from an approved surety, valid for 60 days. The successful bidder must furnish performance and labor and material payment bonds, each at 100% of the contract sum. Meachum also requires comprehensive liability coverage, including workers' compensation, commercial general liability, automobile, owner's protective, and umbrella/excess liability with specified minimum limits. All bidders must submit a sworn, notarized Iran Economic Sanctions Act certification (PA 517 of 2012) and a disclosure of familial relationships with district board members, the superintendent, or employees under MCL 380.1267. The owner approves all subcontractors and is not obligated to accept the lowest proposal. Meachum will be awarded on AIA Document A105-2007.
Bidding documents are available without deposit through Buy4Michigan for the high school and from the architect's office for Meachum. Addendum One for both projects was issued October 19, 2026, and Addendum Two for both was issued November 3, 2026, the most recent update. Bidders must acknowledge both addenda in their submissions. Contract completion for both projects is June 30, 2027. The bid documents do not state a contract value.
