About this opportunity
The University of Connecticut is soliciting landscape architectural services for the Athletics Recognition Garden via RFP 300304, with proposals due July 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. through the HuskyBuy Portal. A pre-proposal conference is scheduled for June 30, 2026 via Microsoft Teams, with questions due July 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Bidders must hold a current Connecticut Certificate of Registration from the State Board of Landscape Architects and demonstrate that at least one team member holds a current Connecticut Landscape Architect license. The scope spans seven design phases — Pre-Design Study, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding/Negotiation, Construction Administration, and Closeout — for a recognition garden at 2111 Hillside Road, Storrs, Connecticut that will convert lawn space into a landscaped area with walkways, decorative curb, planting beds, accent lighting, site monuments, and mature-tree protection. The project requires landscape architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and structural engineering services; lighting designer and licensed environmental professional engagement is anticipated. Proposers must provide project approach narratives, quality assurance and cost-control documentation, and resumes for the Principal in Charge, Project Manager, and Lead Designer, with resumes required on the University's form (ProfServ-RFP, October 2025). Previous relevant experience on comparable projects completed within the past ten years — particularly those involving plazas or parks with sculptures — must be documented on the University's form (October 2025) covering up to six projects per team member.
Pricing is submitted as a lump-sum fee covering all labor, equipment, materials, communication, travel, reimbursable expenses, overhead, and profit across the base scope; additional and special services are reimbursed at actual cost plus ten percent or hourly rates. Cost proposals must remain firm for ninety calendar days from opening. The contract is a Standard Fixed-Fee Architect's Contract (revised December 23, 2024) that vendors must accept without exception. Design documents are due November 2026, construction documents due January 2027, and construction is scheduled to begin March 2027 for four to five months. Anticipated contract issuance and notice to proceed is September 2026. All bidders must comply with Connecticut's State Contractors Guide to the Code of Ethics and sexual harassment training requirements under Connecticut General Statute 46a-54(15). Addendum 1 issued June 24, 2026 corrected the pre-proposal conference Microsoft Teams link and must be acknowledged by bidders.
