About this opportunity

Slippery Rock University, part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is seeking separate prime contractors for the Art Building Renovations Project through an invitation to bid (UP-2025-001). The project involves comprehensive renovation work at the university's art building, with primary focus on replacing existing storefront entrances and glazing, particularly at the north vestibule. Specific renovation objectives include expanding the north vestibule, creating a new accessible entrance, removing and replacing concrete sidewalks, and making additional improvements such as installing solids interceptors, new trough sinks, and upgrading access control devices. The university requires contractors to furnish all necessary labor, materials, tools, and equipment to complete construction satisfactorily. A pre-bid conference and site visit are scheduled for October 15, 2025, at 11 AM, located at 100 Building & Grounds Road in Slippery Rock, PA, which is recommended but not mandatory for potential bidders. Electronic bids must be submitted through PennBid by 2:00 PM EST on November 11, 2025, with bid documents available at no cost via the PennBid platform.

While specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements are not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the procurement appears open to qualified contractors capable of meeting the project's technical specifications. The project does not mention incumbent vendors or specific integration requirements with existing infrastructure. Although a precise budget range is not specified, the comprehensive nature of the renovations suggests a significant capital investment, likely in the mid-to-high six-figure range. Contractors will be expected to coordinate as separate prime contractors, with the General Contractor serving as the lead prime contractor, following specific coordination instructions outlined in Section 01 31 00 of the project documents. The procurement process emphasizes technical competence, ability to complete renovations to the university's satisfaction, and adherence to Pennsylvania state contracting statutes.
