About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting sealed bids for fiscal year 2011 buoys, with bids due December 1, 2010. In-state vendors and those offering Maine-manufactured products receive preference in case of tie bids.
The procurement spans 306 buoys across seven categories: 126 nine-inch buoys marked for area closure, rock identification, shallow water warnings, and hazard areas; 88 nine-inch buoys with black and white vertical stripes; 9 nine-inch buoys for headway speed restrictions; 6 nine-inch buoys designating swim areas; 23 five-inch solid yellow buoys printed with "Avoid Milfoil Area" messaging; 27 five-inch green channel markers; and 55 five-inch red channel markers; plus 2 fourteen-inch buoys (one red channel marker, one green channel marker). All buoys must meet U.S. Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers marking, lighting, and reflective property standards, with detailed specifications addressing material composition, durability, corrosion resistance, and dimensional drawings.
The estimated total cost is $26,696.00. Nine-inch buoys are priced at $86.50 each; five-inch buoys at $86.50 each; and fourteen-inch buoys at $200.00 each. Bidders must submit separate unit prices for each item, and awards will be made item-by-item or by group as the State deems in its best interest. The State reserves the right to adjust ordered quantities by up to 10 percent. All transportation and delivery charges must be prepaid by the contractor. The State is exempt from federal taxes on non-resale items and Maine state and local sales taxes. Cash discounts of less than 20 days will not be considered in awards. Contractors must furnish items exactly as specified and provide material safety data sheets for any hazardous chemicals under Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law.
