About this opportunity
Albany State University, on behalf of the Board of Regents of The University System of Georgia, is soliciting responses from Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) firms for replacement of the cooling tower at the East Campus Central Energy Plant, with qualifications responses due August 7, 2026. This is a two-stage qualification-based selection: Stage I (RFQ) to identify qualified finalists, followed by Stage II (RFP) from selected firms.
The project scope includes removal of the existing wood-framed field-erected cooling tower assembly and associated vertical turbine tower pumps (vintage to 1997 original construction); installation of new factory-fabricated steel cooling towers on the existing concrete basin; modification of the existing basin to accommodate the new cooling tower footprint; installation of new vertical turbine tower pumps in the existing concrete sump; installation of new variable-frequency drives serving the cooling towers; upgrades to the existing building automation system; test and balance of the completed condenser water system; and electrical work supporting removal and installation of mechanical systems. The cooling tower serves the Central Energy Plant's chillers, which provide chilled water and heating water for HVAC systems across multiple high-profile campus buildings.
Work is performed at Albany State University's East Campus in Albany, Georgia. The source does not specify contract value, contract term, evaluation criteria, or the timeline for Stage II (RFP). No incumbent is identified.
