About this opportunity

Alameda County is requesting bids for demolition and abatement of an existing 3-story building at a Martin Luther King Jr. Way site in Oakland, California, in support of the African American Wellness Hub project, with bids due October 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Public bidding for Bid Package #001 opens October 8, 2026.

The scope includes full demolition of the existing 3-story structure, attic, and basement (approximately 15,838 gross square feet total), with complete basement abandonment and fill. The existing basement concrete retaining wall will remain in place. The 0.105-acre site is mid-block with adjacent buildings on the north and west sides; the new construction will assume zero-lot-line adjacency. Following demolition, the County will construct a new 4-story steel-framed building with building envelope, interior partitions, vertical circulation, casework and finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The new building will include a multipurpose room and commercial kitchen critical to operations. Minimal sitework is planned, including a traffic barrier at the curb. The project site location includes an existing basement extending below the city sidewalk.

No estimated contract value, contract term, incumbent contractor, evaluation criteria, or pre-bid meeting information is provided in the source.
