The material specification calls for virgin Alloy 3003-H12 aluminum, gauge 20 thickness, in standard 12-1/8-inch width and motorcycle size 7-1/16-inch width, coiled on 20-inch cores with outer diameters between 42 and 51 inches. Mechanical properties must include ultimate strength of 17,000 to 23,000 ksi, minimum yield strength of 12,000 ksi, and elongation of 15 to 20 percent, with capacity to withstand embossing without breaking or warping. Material must be treated with Alodine 1200 or equivalent chromate conversion coating per ASTM B-449-67, Class 2, at 8 to 12 mg/sq.ft. (median 10 mg/sq.ft.). Prospective bidders must submit six sample pieces (12-1/8" x 40" or 7-1/16" x 40") by bid closing, labeled with manufacturer and bidder identification.
Delivery is FOB to the Plate Shop in Warren, Maine, scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with 24-hour advance phone confirmation required. Coils shall be packaged on skids with maximum weight of 2,300 pounds, strapped with minimum three evenly spaced bands, and shipped in moisture-proof wrapping in closed vans with rear unload capability. The state reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent upon 60 days' written notice. Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, with consideration given to price, lead-time, and specification adherence. All prices must be inclusive of delivery and prepaid transportation charges unless otherwise specified. Cash discounts of 20 days or more are considered in evaluation. Questions must be submitted through the official Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page; responses are posted within 48 hours.
