About this opportunity
Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools, a Michigan school district, is requesting sealed bids for asphalt shingle roof replacement at Galesburg-Augusta High School (1076 N 37th Street, Galesburg, Michigan), with bids due July 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. local time. The project is subject to Michigan prevailing wage requirements, with journeyman roofer rates at $52.33 per hour straight time as of October 31, 2025.
The scope covers complete roof removal and replacement over approximately 33,500 square feet of commercial-grade CertainTeed Landmark asphalt shingles, including underlayment, self-adhering polymer-modified bitumen waterproofing membrane (12-foot width at perimeter and designated locations), ice and water shield, drip edge (matching existing), new aluminum fascia (matching existing custom colors), gutters, downspouts, and ridge vent system. Contractors must conduct infrared thermal inspection to identify compromised insulated nailer panels, sheathing, and insulation requiring removal and replacement; repair all existing rooftop penetrations with patching to match adjacent areas; and verify existing building conditions prior to demolition. Submittals must include product data sheets and color charts for all specified materials.
Construction is scheduled to commence August 17, 2026 and complete September 11, 2026 (26 calendar days). Post-bid interviews occur July 29, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. A pre-bid meeting was held July 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. RFI cutoff was July 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Bids must include 5 percent bid bonds or certified checks. Bid packages exceeding $50,000 must incorporate Performance Bonds and Labor and Material Bonds within the base lump-sum price; packages under $50,000 must price bonds separately. Contracts will be awarded on an AIA Contract basis. Elite Companies is the construction manager. All work must comply with OSHA standards, Michigan safety regulations, and Elite Companies' 100 percent Fall Protection Policy and comprehensive Personal Protective Equipment requirements. Safety violations and noncompliance corrections are charged back at $100–$105 per hour.
