About this opportunity
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for telecommunications network cabling, related electrical services, and hardware installation services for Northern California DMV Offices (Area 2). The procurement seeks a contractor to perform comprehensive telecommunications infrastructure work, including network cabling installation, electrical circuit services, CCTV system implementation, TV/monitor mounting, and related infrastructure upgrades across multiple DMV office locations. Bidders must possess a valid C-10 contractor license issued by the California Contractors State License Board, with all subcontractors required to have appropriate licensing for their specific work scope. The contract term is thirty-six months, with a proposed start date of May 1, 2025, or upon contract approval. Key submission deadlines include written questions due by February 11, 2025 at 4:00 PM, written responses to be released by February 18, 2025 at 4:00 PM, and final bid submission deadline of February 24, 2025 at 11:59 PM, with bid opening scheduled for February 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM.
The procurement includes specific set-aside requirements, mandating a 3% Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation for bids over $10,000. Contractors must comply with prevailing wage requirements for contracts exceeding $1,000 and obtain public works contractor registration with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) for contracts over $25,000. Financial requirements include a payment bond equal to 100% of the contract amount for bids exceeding $25,000, and comprehensive insurance coverage, including commercial general liability ($1M per occurrence), workers' compensation, and automobile liability. The DMV does not guarantee minimum or maximum contract usage, with pricing structured around 82 different line items covering various cable installations, electrical work, and equipment. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the detailed line-item pricing and extensive scope suggest a potentially significant contract value for the selected vendor. Interested bidders must demonstrate technical expertise, proper licensing, and ability to meet stringent infrastructure installation requirements across Northern California DMV office locations.
