About this opportunity

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB) seeking telecommunications network cabling, related electrical services, and hardware installation services for DMV offices in Bay Area 2. The procurement covers comprehensive network infrastructure work across 11 DMV office locations, including Capitola, Coalinga, Gilroy, Holister, King City, Paso Robles, Salinas, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Seaside, and Watsonville. Bidders must possess a valid C-10 contractor license issued by the California Contractors State License Board and ensure all subcontractors have appropriate licensing. The project requires installation of Category-6e cabling, electrical circuits, network racks, UPS systems, and CCTV equipment, with bidders required to submit unit pricing for 82 different line items covering materials and labor. Key procurement dates include written questions due by February 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM, bid submissions due by March 4, 2025 at 11:59 PM, and a bid opening scheduled for March 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM. The proposed contract start date is May 1, 2025, with a 36-month contract term and a total estimated contract value of $236,226.00.

The procurement includes specific requirements for Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation, mandating a minimum 3% participation with potential incentives ranging from 3-5% for bids exceeding $10,000. Small Business and Non-Small Business preferences are available to eligible vendors. Prevailing wage requirements apply to bids over $1,000, and contractors must be registered as public works contractors for bids exceeding $25,000. The DMV does not guarantee minimum or maximum usage under the contract, providing flexibility for potential contractors. Bidders must demonstrate compliance with licensing, wage, and participation requirements, with all contractor and subcontractor licenses required to remain in good standing throughout the bid process and contract term. The comprehensive scope of work suggests a complex infrastructure upgrade project aimed at modernizing telecommunications and electrical systems across multiple DMV office locations in the Bay Area region.
