About this opportunity

The Port of Galveston (Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves) is requesting bids for controlled demolition and removal of the northwest corner of Cruise Terminal 25, with bids due November 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM CDT and a non-mandatory pre-bid conference and site visit on November 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

The scope includes controlled demolition of the designated areas and items per construction drawings, haul-off and removal of all demolished materials, and provision of a demolition plan detailing equipment, sequences, methods, and calendar days to substantial completion. Work is located at Cruise Terminal 25, 2502 Harborside Drive, Galveston, Texas 77550, with construction access through Gate 7.

As Cruise Terminal 25 is a MARSEC Level 1 facility, all workers must hold TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) cards or be escorted by TWIC-holding personnel at all times — a binding compliance requirement that filters eligibility. The contractor must obtain all necessary permits and licenses and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Sealed bids in triplicate must be accompanied by a cashier's check or bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount, made payable to the Galveston Wharves. The successful contractor will furnish separate performance and payment bonds at 100% of the contract price from a Corporate Surety acceptable to the Owner. Monthly payments are made at 95% of approved estimates, with the final balance due upon completion provided evidence of full payment to all laborers and materialmen is furnished. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day apply for failure to meet the completion deadline.

The contractor must provide all temporary utility services, maintain the site clean, and guarantee all work against defective material and workmanship for a minimum of two years from final acceptance. Written questions are due November 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM to purchasing@portofgalveston.com.
