About this opportunity
Columbia County is seeking a qualified geotechnical services consultant for the Wrightsboro Road Widening Project (PI # 0008348), a comprehensive infrastructure improvement initiative. The project involves widening an approximately 4.1-mile section of Wrightsboro Road from Jimmie Dyess Parkway to Horizon South Parkway, expanding the roadway from two to three lanes with sidewalks on both sides. The geotechnical scope includes critical tasks such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Soil Survey Reports, and a Pavement Evaluation Study. Consultants must be prequalified through the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for all category 6 area classes, with specific expertise required in roadway design, environmental assessments, surveying, and technical evaluations. Qualification packages are due on August 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, and must be submitted electronically through the Bonfire platform at https://columbiacountyga.bonfirehub.com. The project will follow GDOT's Plan Development Process and adhere to various design guidelines and environmental regulations.
The procurement includes a 15% overall annual goal for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation, which can be achieved through prime contracting, sub-contracting, joint-venture, or mentor/protege relationships. While specific budget details are not explicitly stated, the contract amount will be determined through negotiations, with the county reserving the right to terminate discussions with the highest-scoring finalist and proceed to the next highest-ranked firm if a satisfactory agreement cannot be reached. The contract is structured as a multi-phase, project-specific agreement with potential for the selected consultant to be utilized for subsequent construction revisions. Bidders should note that the procurement is specifically for geotechnical services supporting the road widening project, with the ultimate goal of improving transportation infrastructure in Columbia County. The procurement contact is located at 500 Faircloth Drive, Building E in Evans, Georgia 30809, and interested parties are encouraged to thoroughly review all documentation available on the Bonfire platform before submission.
