About this opportunity

The state and local contract opportunity is a public works project for the Village of Nyack in Rockland County, New York, focusing on sidewalk and curb improvements utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) FY 2023 funding. The procurement seeks a contractor to perform comprehensive infrastructure rehabilitation across multiple street segments, including Third Avenue, Marion Street, Jefferson Avenue, First Avenue, and Franklin Street. The base bid and alternates involve constructing approximately 160 square yards of concrete sidewalk, 400 linear feet of concrete vertical curb, 64 square feet of embedded detectable warning surfaces for handicapped ramps, and 55 square yards of concrete apron. Key project objectives include removing, disposing, and replacing existing curbs and sidewalks, with associated work such as sidewalk drains and driveway repairs. The contract is set for a one-year term, with sealed bids due on July 8, 2025, at 2:30 PM, and all bidders must comply with New York State General Municipal Law and applicable federal, state, and local statutes.

The procurement does not include a service-disabled veteran-owned business set-aside, indicating open competition for qualified contractors. Previously awarded similar contracts include Paladino Concrete Creations from Mount Vernon, NY, and A-Tech Concrete, suggesting potential competitive interest from regional concrete and infrastructure construction firms. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the street improvement project implies a substantial municipal infrastructure investment. The project requires contractors to demonstrate capability in municipal concrete work, handicap accessibility infrastructure, and adherence to local government construction standards. Traffic control will be managed by Village staff, which may impact contractor coordination and project scheduling. Prospective bidders should carefully review the attached Notice to Bidders document and be prepared to meet all technical specifications and municipal procurement requirements.
