About this opportunity

The Town of Fairfield, Connecticut, through its Department of Public Works, is seeking competitive bids for the 2024-83 Neighborhood Sidewalk Improvements project, funded by a DOT STEAP grant. The procurement focuses on comprehensive sidewalk, driveway apron, and curbing improvements along Reef Road and Round Hill Road, with specific objectives to remove old and deficient concrete or asphalt infrastructure and install new concrete sidewalks, concrete aprons, brick pavers, cast-in-place concrete, and concrete curbs. Qualified contractors must provide all necessary labor, materials, and equipment to complete the infrastructure improvements, which include ADA ramp upgrades and neighborhood-level roadway enhancements. The solicitation requires contractors to follow prevailing wage requirements and comply with Connecticut Contract Compliance Regulations. The bid period is open from July 16, 2024, at 4:30 PM EDT to July 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM EDT, with multiple addenda issued to provide additional project clarification and technical specifications.

The solicitation appears to be open to all vendors without specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged business enterprises or minority-owned businesses. No incumbent vendors are mentioned in the documentation, and there are no explicit restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond to the bid. While the total project budget is not disclosed, the project is funded through a DOT STEAP grant, suggesting a state-supported infrastructure improvement initiative. Contractors must submit pricing using the provided Bid Proposal Pricing Sheet and demonstrate compliance with Connecticut Statute 31-57b and CHRO Contract Compliance Regulations. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with delivery terms specified as Free On Board Destination and payment terms left to the vendor's discretion. Though the exact project value is not specified, the comprehensive nature of the infrastructure improvements and the involvement of a state grant suggest a significant municipal investment in neighborhood infrastructure.
