About this opportunity
Binghamton University is seeking a qualified contractor to perform comprehensive renovation work at 18 Park Street, specifically involving demolition of existing penthouses, roof system installation, concrete deck patching, and masonry parapet repair. The project requires purchase of bid documents from nyplanroom.com and mandates that all prospective bidders obtain official documentation through the designated website to be considered responsible. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM in conference room C of the Physical Facilities Building, where potential contractors can gather additional project details. The contract has a defined timeline of 75 calendar days, with sealed bids due on March 19, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The procurement is located in Broome County, New York, and will require comprehensive construction and renovation expertise to complete the specified upgrades to the university facility.
The contract includes specific subcontracting goals for minority and women-owned businesses, with a 13% minority-owned subcontracting goal and a 17% women-owned subcontracting goal. Additionally, there is a 6% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business contracting goal, though the opportunity is not specifically set aside for such businesses. No identical or substantially similar procurement contracts have been awarded within the past five years, indicating this is a new project initiative. While specific budget details are not provided, the comprehensive nature of the work—involving demolition, roof replacement, and masonry repair—suggests a significant capital investment. Interested contractors will need to demonstrate technical capabilities in construction, restoration, and adherence to university and state procurement guidelines to be competitive in this bidding process.
