About this opportunity
Auburn University's Department of Bioengineering is requesting sealed bids for one fully enclosed 18-foot aluminum mobile drone operations trailer, with bids due September 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. CDT. The procurement carries a preference for small business and small disadvantaged business subcontractors when necessary, with reporting required throughout contract performance.
The trailer must be a V-nose aerodynamic design with white exterior aluminum sheets, standing 7 feet tall on a standard car-hauler platform with 2-inch beavertail. Key infrastructure includes a 10-foot centered stage with winch assist and aluminum railings, a 10-foot treadplate platform with four sides and removable ladder, two 16-foot Carefree electric awnings on both sides plus an 8-foot custom electric awning over the rear ramp door, full-width full-height rear ramp access (7 feet) with pressure latches and cable assist, and a 36-inch HD camper-style side access door. Interior finish consists of 3/16-inch aluminum smooth flooring with black raised coin rubber tile covering approximately 153 square feet.
The critical technical requirement is a three-phase electrical system capable of supporting simultaneous full-power operation of two DJI C12000 Intelligent Power Supplies at minimum 15 kW capacity per charger, with external three-phase input acceptance of 175–520 VAC at 50/60 Hz, two interior dedicated three-phase receptacles, and complete wiring diagrams stamped by a licensed professional engineer. Additional features include tandem 5.2K rubber torsion axles with electric brakes, 4400-pound winch with 50-foot synthetic cable and wireless remote, 15,000 BTU air conditioning, LED interior and exterior lighting, white laminate cabinets, 12-volt AGM battery package, and 60-inch ceiling-mounted TV.
Bidders must provide line-item confirmation of every specification with manufacturer and model numbers, material gauges, dimensions, photographs or drawings, and detailed electrical schematic. Deviations from specifications are grounds for rejection if they reduce quality, capacity, or functionality. All bids must be submitted F.O.B. Destination with freight prepaid. Bid openings will be public via JAGGAER portal and conference call, with vendor names announced only. Auburn University reserves the right to conduct discussions, request revisions, negotiate pricing, and make single or multiple awards. The contract may be extended to Auburn University at Montgomery and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
