About this opportunity
The County of San Mateo Parks Department is soliciting bids for a comprehensive uniform and alteration services contract through an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for park rangers and seasonal staff. The procurement seeks a vendor to supply complete uniform sets including shirts, pants, jackets, rainwear, hats, belts, boots, and badges from manufacturers such as Elbeco, Redkap, Sanmar, Blauer, and First Tactical. The contract will be a five-year Vendor Agreement allowing direct ordering from the supplier, with specific requirements including in-store pickup within 40 miles of Redwood City, maintaining inventory of standard items, and completing alterations within 5 business days. Bid submissions are due electronically through the OpenGov portal by August 19, 2025 at 5:00 pm, with vendors required to offer uniform options in male, female, and gender-neutral cuts. Vendors must provide a dedicated account manager and demonstrate the ability to customize and maintain professional-grade uniforms suitable for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
The contract appears to have no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, though it does include provisions for non-discrimination and living wage compliance. The procurement is directly tied to a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) between the County of San Mateo and AFSCME, suggesting potential labor agreement considerations. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the uniform requirements implies a substantial contract value over the five-year term. The vendor must be located within 40 miles of Redwood City and capable of providing a wide range of uniform items with flexible sizing and customization options. Pricing will be evaluated based on itemized costs for individual uniform pieces, with separate pricing for standard and rush alteration services. The contract emphasizes professional standards, durability, and the ability to meet the specific functional needs of park rangers and seasonal staff in various work environments.
