About this opportunity

The County of San Mateo is seeking qualified vendors to provide Nexplanon, a contraceptive implant, through Invitation for Bid (IFB) No. 2025-IFB-00409. This procurement is a three-year contract allowing county departments to order the medical device directly from the selected supplier. The successful vendor must provide an account representative with a backup contact, ensure delivery within three business days after receipt of order, and generate comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and yearly usage reports detailing frequency and cost by department. Key vendor requirements include maintaining responsiveness to county needs, with the ability to address inquiries within two business days and potentially offering weekend coverage. Bid evaluation will be primarily based on Total Bid Price, with proposals ranked from lowest to highest. Bids are due by 5:00 pm on April 23, 2025, and must be submitted electronically through the OpenGov portal. The vendor must also provide safety data sheets and comply with various county ordinances and non-discrimination standards.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the documentation. The estimated total annual spend for this contract ranges between $300,000 and $400,000, indicating a significant procurement opportunity for potential vendors. The contract will be structured as a County of San Mateo Vendor Agreement, which includes provisions for quality assurance, warranties, and potential termination clauses to protect the county's interests. While no incumbent vendors were identified, the solicitation covers jurisdictions in San Mateo County and San Bernardino City. The procurement emphasizes the need for a responsive, reliable supplier capable of meeting the county's medical supply requirements with minimal disruption. Insurance requirements and compliance with local ordinances will be critical components of vendor selection and contract execution.
