About this opportunity
The State of Maine is requesting bids on 10 assorted fiberglass truck caps for new vehicles, with bids due May 23, 2008. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder considering best value to the State; the State reserves the right to accept items individually or as groups and to reject any or all bids.
The procurement covers assorted truck caps across multiple 2008 vehicle configurations, including Chevy Colorado Regular Cab, Chevy Colorado Extended Cab, Chevy Colorado Crew Cab, and GMC Sierra variants in single-cab and extended-cab formats with bed lengths ranging from 5 to 6.5 feet and all four-wheel drive. Caps must be white, fiberglass construction, with either above-cab-height (non-wedge) or cab-high style depending on specification; all must include radius corners, reinforced roof, clear glass with black window beading, 360-degree visibility windows, recessed third brake light, two gas props per door, installation tape, and four aluminum hold-down clamps. Features vary by specification but include sliding side windows with screens, standard front windows, adjustable boat or ladder roof racks (with 150-pound minimum capacity where specified), 12-volt interior lights, and window t-handles with weather covers. Installation is F.O.B. dealer location. A critical requirement explicitly prohibits Scotch-Lok style connectors.
Bidders must submit unit prices and total costs for each quoted configuration, vendor contact information, model designation, and estimated delivery timeframes. The State offers a preference for in-state bidders or those providing commodities produced or manufactured in Maine when resolving tie bids. Transportation charges including freight shall be prepaid by the contractor. Cash discounts of 20 days or more are considered in determining the low bidder; discounts under 20 days are not considered. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine sales and use taxes, which should not be included in bids. All samples must be furnished at no charge.
