About this opportunity

The City of Craig, Colorado is requesting sealed bids for rehabilitation of a 1.0 MG welded steel potable water storage tank located at Finley Lane and Alta Vista Drive, with bids due July 21, 2026 and a mandatory pre-bid conference held July 7, 2026.

Qualification is a hard filter: contractors must demonstrate at least three completed similar welded steel potable water storage tank rehabilitation projects within the past five years that incorporate magnetic flux leakage (MFL) inspections, floor and roof plate repairs, structural steel work, radiographic testing, vent and hatch replacements, interior ladders, drain sumps, center column components, joint repairs, and coating systems.

The scope spans interior and exterior tank rehabilitation: interior cleaning, MFL floor scanning, floor and roof plate repairs through welding, installation of new roof vent and access hatch components, replacement of interior and exterior ladders, fabrication of center column framing and drain sump, overflow weir modifications, surface preparation, and application of interior and exterior coating systems compliant with NSF/ANSI 61 and AWWA standards, exterior joint sealing, tank disinfection, and site restoration. The project consists of 14 bid items mixing lump-sum prices for mobilization, testing, and major component installations and unit prices for individual plate repairs.

The contractor must commence work by August 10, 2026 and achieve substantial completion by October 23, 2026, with final completion by October 30, 2026. Bids exceeding $50,000 require a 5 percent bid bond; the successful bidder must furnish 100 percent performance and payment bonds within ten calendar days of notice of award. Monthly partial payments are made at 95 percent of approved applications, with 5 percent retained until final acceptance. The contract price may be adjusted for unit price items based on actual quantities completed and accepted.

Written questions were due July 14, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., with responses issued as addenda by July 16, 2026. Awards go to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Contractors must comply with Executive Order 11246, equal opportunity employment requirements, e-verify verification, and Colorado Governmental Immunity Act provisions.
