About this opportunity

The Department of State's Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation is seeking applicants for the Women in CHIPS Initiative, a cooperative agreement focused on advancing the participation of women in the semiconductor industry. The initiative aims to create a professional network and community of practice through sustained mentorship, technical training and workshops, and a study tour. The goal is to increase the representation of women in both public and private sectors of the semiconductor industry, particularly in leadership positions, STEM fields, and other key functional areas. Applications are due by March 31, 2025.

This funding opportunity is part of the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program (CFDA 19.901), which supports a range of activities to strengthen partner countries' capabilities in regulating strategic trade and preventing the proliferation of sensitive materials and technologies. Federal Grant Awards under this program typically range from $100,000 to $4 million, with performance periods spanning 1-3 years. The project locations may include countries in regions such as South and Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa.

Synopsis

To create a professional network and community of practice to advance women working in strategic trade, specifically in the semiconductor industry, through sustained mentorship, technical training and focused workshops, and a study tour. The Women in CHIPS concept seeks to increase representation of women in the public and private sectors of the semiconductor industry. This will expand upon ECC's Women in Strategic Trade Initiative (WiST), which aims to increase representation of women in leadership positions, key functional areas, scientific and technical (STEM) fields, and other key stakeholder arenas.
